The lost penguin

We have been learning that all we see on the internet is not real.

We saw a video on penguins flying and we had to read to find true information on the national geographic about penguins. This is what we found:

Penguins are birds.
Penguins cannot fly because they are heavy.
They live in the South pole or Antarctic ice.
They lay eggs.
Penguins huddle together to keep warm.
Father penguin looks after the egg while mother penguin goes to find food.
Penguins feed their chicks by regurgitating.
Penguins eat, fish, squid and krill.

We created three settings to make a story about a lost penguin. Which one is his home?

Identity

Peter and his Dad shared about their identity.

This is Peter's favourite vegetable. It is a bitter gourd.

This the the flag of the Philippines.

That is the map of Philippines. They speak a language called "Tagalog".

They celebrate Christmas and Halloween.

These are some pictures of Peter and his family. There are pictures of Peter when he was a baby too.

Peter is wearing a special shirt called " barong".
The fabric is made from pineapple leaves.

Thank you for the lovely sharing about you, your country, language, food and festivals.

Sharing about our special cultures

This week we had two parents come to talk to us about their culture.

Johnny's mum along with Johnny and Hanna sang a song in Vietnamese.

We learned to count from one to ten in Vietnamese.

These are the words to say Good morning, Thank you and Goodbye in Vietnamese.

We could hear Johnny's mum talking to Johnny and Hanna in Vietnamese.

Ally made her identity poster and her mum and brother helped her.

Ally's mum pointed to us on the map where Tonga is.

She also read us some Tongan language words and showed us the "Heilala" flower.

A big "Thank you" to the two parents who came to share about their culture and language.

Our portraits

Our learning this term is about our Identity.  We will find more about ourselves.  We started by drawing a portrait about ourselves by looking at our photo to help us draw.

Birds

Room 3 has been learning about birds and how they adapt to their environment.Birds have different beaks. They can be short, long, pointed or curved. Birds feathers are soft and light. Birds have different colors of feathers too. Some birds have short legs and some have thin, long legs. They are light so they can fly high in the sky.
We made our own birds and used feathers of our choice.

ONESIES AND PYJAMA DAY

Today, we had most of the children at Rosebank school wear onesies or pyjamas.
It was fun. We donated a gold coin towards CANTEEN.

We are wearing alligator, pig and bear onesies.

We are wearing pyjamas of different kinds and animal slippers.
